The Power of Listening: Why Authentic Conversations Matter More Than a Perfect Sales Pitch

Over the weekend, the Fixo Solutions Limited team took part in an Expo organised by the Kilimani Community Foundation — a fantastic opportunity to connect face to face with potential customers.

At Fixo Solutions Limited, we’ve always believed that true innovation doesn’t just happen in the boardroom or through code. It happens in conversation — by listening to real people, understanding their fears, and refining our offering to meet them where they are.

As we introduced Fixo Solutions Limited — a digital marketplace connecting households to vetted, professional handymen — we noticed a common theme in people’s reactions. They found the idea novel and exciting, but they also had questions. Important ones.

“How can I trust the person coming into my home?”
“Are these handymen trained or just anyone with a toolkit?”

These weren’t objections to our product. They were reflections of genuine human inertia — the hesitation to try something new when personal safety and quality are involved.

And instead of brushing these questions aside, we leaned in.
We listened.
We explained.

We shared that every handyman on Fixo! goes through a 5-step onboarding process designed to protect our customers and uphold quality:
1️⃣ Police Clearance Certificate
2️⃣ Reference checks from at least 3 referees
3️⃣ Guarantor vouching
4️⃣ Next-of-kin details
5️⃣ Attendance of a one-day physical onboarding and training session

Only after all five steps are successfully completed — and with at least three years of verified experience — does a handyman get onboarded onto the platform.

We also took time to explain that Fixo Solutions Limited doesn’t just serve customers — it empowers handymen, helping them improve their craft through education and our 5-star rating system, which rewards quality and reliability.

By the end of the conversations, something shifted.
People began to see Fixo Solutions Limited not just as a digital platform, but as a trust system — one that bridges the gap between households seeking help and skilled tradesmen seeking opportunity.

This experience reaffirmed something I’ve always believed:

The best sales pitch is not the one you deliver — it’s the one you refine after listening.

Authentic connection isn’t just about getting someone to buy into your idea. It’s about understanding their worldview, their fears, and showing them that you’ve built something with them in mind.

And that’s what we’ll keep doing at Fixo Solutions Limited — one conversation at a time.
